In March 2024, our division traveled to Maputo, Mozambique to teach EM and ICU residents at Hospital Centro de Maputo. The 48-hour course was designed to teach POCUS for resuscitation (ie eFAST, RUSH), procedures (ie central line insertion), and bedside diagnosis of common pathology (ie DVT, cholecystitis). 40+ residents and physicians completed the course, mastering the ButterflyIQ for all applications!
In August 2023, Drs. Smyres and Fica traveled to Ecuador to teach military physicians POCUS skills. Each deployment only lasts a few months, so they were also taught how to teach the next cohort of physicians the most relevant applications of POCUS.
